Christmas is around the corner!

Where has the year gone?? A very late post, I've been neglecting this blog haven't I?

It's been a busy week, prepping Gingerbread for the weekend's SSPCA Christmas Charity Bazaar; introducing a new item to the dessert menu at H.I.P. Cafe along with my regular bakes for other cafes.

December Special at HIP Cafe, the Apple Almond Frangipane- Slices of Granny Smith apples, a rich Almond filling, and caramelised Cinnamon Sugar. Absolutely comforting served with Vanilla ice cream!

An all-time favourite, the Lemon Meringue, also available at HIP.
(Changing up the meringue piping for some variety)

Soft Honey Gingerbread for the SSPCA Sale. All proceeds go towards the Animal Shelter so send those fur babies some love and buy a Gingerbread Boy (or Tree) ;D

And finally, a photo from a few weeks back: The White Rajah! Artwork by local artist Daphne Siaw, printed onto edible sheet and attached onto a fondant covered Chocolate Cake with White Chocolate frosting.

Up, Up & Away!

A Hot Air Balloon themed birthday cake, with a special request for Passionfruit flavour.

Quite unintentionally, the decor worked out to resemble a Smiley Face ;)

Hey Mickey! You're so fine, you blow my mind!

Fondant covered Red Velvet Cake. (Almost) Too cute to slice up :)

Down The Rabbit Hole...

...Soon her eye fell on a little glass box that was lying under the table: she opened it and found in it a very small cake, on which the words "EAT ME" were beautifully marked in currants. "Well, I'll eat it," said Alice...

I'm just slightly obsessed with everything Alice, so I was keen to attempt this Mad Hatter's theme cake (even though I was equal parts freaked out with working on another fondant cake!)

The Top Hat is constructed of layers of Red Velvet cake, accessorised with a gold pocket watch and roses. The Chocolate cupcakes (topped with a simple Vanilla Buttercream) were accented with other Alice inspired fondant decorations.

C is for Cookie!!

"ME WANT COOKIE!!" Chocolate Cake decorated with blue Vanilla Buttercream, flanked by chocolate cookies (OK, technically they are cream-filled biscuits and not cookies... details, details :P). Happy 3rd Birthday lil Ava xoxo

P is for Pingu The Penguin

If you never watched Pingu the Penguin as a child you have missed out on this cute lil fella and his delightful misadventures!

Cartoons and animations were so much more endearing back in the 80s (i'm giving my age away!), unlike the new re-imagined My Little Ponies, Smurfs and Ninja Turtles. Seriously, leave my childhood favourites alone!

Fondant covered Chocolate & Vanilla Buttercream cake, adorned with hand-crafted Pingu and Robbie :) Happy 3rd Birthday Marcus!

Close up of Pingu & Robbie. I wish I could keep you!

Updated pic with a few more details:

Who doesn't love a little Bling? ;)

I normally don't agree to make fondant cakes, but when I got a request for a Crown Cake I couldn't say 'No' and what fun it was to create! I had been waiting for a chance to test out my Jewel molds to craft edible sugar gems.

Night & Day

Two cakes on the same day, a simple, clean, 'white' Birthday Carrot Cake, and a sinfully rich Dark Chocolate Ganache.

Birthday Bunnies

Think Pink!

What could possibly be girlier than a PINK cake- inside and out! :) Vanilla sponge layers with refreshingly tangy passionfruit buttercream frosting.

Birthday Butterflies

30 Gingerbread Butterflies for a 30th Birthday :) Not sure which i enjoyed more, the smell of fresh roses or of cinammon spices...

*Royal Icing made using Pastuerised Eggs

It's looking like a bright 2012 :)

2011 slipped by so quickly! So now I'm back in Kuching and slowly getting back into the groove of things, squeezing in some bakes in between. So far, the new year is looking Bright and Cheerful!
